This successful program brings significant value to the participating diverse suppliers, as well as Hewlett-Packard and its stakeholders. Mrs. Minchillo has seen the Mentor-Protégé Program enable suppliers to develop the capabilities required to become strategic suppliers to HP. This is due to the development assistance provided, including capacity planning, response to proposal writing guidance, and HP sponsorship to attend the Tuck School at Dartmouth’s Building a High-Performing Minority Business and Growing the Minority Business to Scale. The Program also includes “Innovation & Collaboration Initiatives”, (ICI’s) where Protégé’s and HP Mentors work together to create and implement sustainable and competitive advantages for HP and the supplier. Minchillo works with all sizes of supplier businesses, providing mechanisms for suppliers to be considered for competitive sourcing opportunities for small, minority and women owned businesses, as well as the global opportunities for larger diverse suppliers. She maintains a number of affiliations including NGLCC, NMSDC, WBENC, (and their global affiliates), and the Global Diversity Leadership Exchange, among others. Her role includes advocacy, as well as supplier development. Her message to diverse suppliers is to be prepared to introduce innovative ideas, when the opportunity presents itself.
