Strategies to Successfully Develop and Manage Effective Outsourcing Relationships


Global outsourcing is no longer just for big corporations. Minority and Women Business Enterprises (MWBE) also embrace the idea of delegating manufacturing, back-office support and other functions to qualified outsource providers. However, many MWBEs still put themselves at risk by focusing only on the cost reduction side of outsourcing and overlooking other areas such as quality control, communication, and total cost of ownership. - By Sherry Bloom

Kate Vitasek, a business consultant and an author of Vested Outsourcing methodology, writes that “many executives view outsourcing as a ‘quick fix’ solution to resolving balance sheet problems, falling into a loop of frequent bidding of their work to the lowest price provider.” Instead, a well-thought out and well-structured strategy is required to develop and manage an effective outsourcing relationship.
