The next challenge is increasing employment retention rates, and technology is helping.Since 2001, almost 3 million veterans have transitioned into the workforce, usually bringing high levels of training and skills. All together there are more than 21 million veterans employed in non-military jobs which seem to indicate that shifting from the military into a private sector or non-military government job is not as difficult as some would have others believe. Employment rates is only half the story. The other half is the low retention rates. Approximately half of veterans transitioning into the workforce stay less than 12 months in their positions. The challenge for employers is to find a way to increase the talent retention rates.
