Emerging Economy of Bangladesh Offers Range of MWBE Opportunities

According to the statistics maintained by the United States CIA, Bangladesh is growing economically. That is remarkable considering the many well known problems the country grapples with, including violent storms, a weak infrastructure and a largely agricultural based economy. Don’t be thinking these problems are too large to overcome, though. There are plenty of business opportunities for minorities and women business enterprises (MWBEs). The GDP has grown annually for 16 years and the government is fully committed to shifting the country to a market economy. These efforts equate to opportunity for American MWBE businesses to grow and globalize by participating early in the reformed markets.

Bangladesh is clearly set to become one of the emerging markets the global economy is turning to for hope of a solid globalized recovery from the recession. ‘Emerging economies’ is a term used to describe countries moving into an open market economy, usually through economic and governmental reforms, but often also requiring important improvements in critical infrastructures and technologies. These improvements are usually in areas like shipping ports, telecommunications, information technologies, utilities and roads.
